School Council

The AYJ School Council is a volunteer group of parents, students, teachers and community members. The main role is to provide a means of direct communication between the parents, the local community and the school. The school council also provides parents with a wider insight into major policy issues in education. Through the school council, parents also assist with certain non-core or social activities at the school.

The School Council for 2017-2018:



 

All parents are welcome to attend meetings of the school council which are held seven times a year at 6:30 PM in the school library. The dates for the 2016-17 school year are:

Activities of the AY Jackson School Council

  • Facilitating open communication with the administration and school staff.
  • Sharing information items and status updates from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board OCDSB.
  • Sharing information items from the Ottawa-Carleton Assembly of School Councils OCASC.
  • Facilitating information sessions for School Council attendees including:
          1. subject specific information sessions by teacher teams.
          2. information sessions on range of school priorities
          3. monthly report from our Student Council representative
          4. monthly report from our teacher/staff representative
          5. monthly principal reports
