Our school’s Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) supports newcomer students and families with settlement services, navigating the school system, language interpretation, and more.
The Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) program provides support in multiple languages for students and families who are newcomers and refugees. The Multicultural Liaison Officer works with school staff to welcome newcomer families and connect them with important services, resources, and supports within our school and in the local community.
Fatimah Ekbal is the Multicultural Liaison Officer at our school. Fatimah speaks Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, and a bit of Farsi and can also help you access support in other languages.

Bio:
Fatimah has been with OCISO since 2005. Fatimah loves helping students reach their goals as well as being a translator for the parents.
Before joining OCISO, Fatimah worked as a Medical technologist in the USA for 12 years. Fatimah has a MSc in Biology.
In their free time, Fatimah enjoys gardening, hiking, and doing arts and crafts.
