Physical Education

A.Y.’s Physical and Health Education Department offers a number of activity courses from Grade 9 through Grade 12 (PPL1O, PPL2O, PPL3O and PPL4O). These “Healthy Active Living” courses enable students to develop an understanding of the importance of physical fitness, health, and well-being. These courses emphasize regular participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that promote a lifelong balanced lifestyle. Students will learn principles of movement skills, physical competence, and ways to improve personal fitness.

PE

We offer the Personal and Fitness Activities course (PAF3O) for students interested in activity courses focused primarily on training. AYJ also offers the Exercise Science course (PSE4U). This course focuses on the study of human movement and on the systems, factors, and principles involved in human development. Students will learn about the effects of physical activity on health and performance, the evolution of physical activity and sports, and the factors that influence an individual’s participation in physical activity. This course prepares students for university programs in physical education, kinesiology, recreation, and sports administration.
